Yoga alliance: the relationship between you and your practice

Students often share how they feel about their yoga practice. It can be anything from “i’m inlove with yoga” to “i avert certain practices”.

Attachment and aversion can be present in so many ways, and very much also in how we relate to our yoga practice. How do yu relate to your yoga practice? Are there certain asanas you fear? Or are you a bonified ‘wanna-gonna make it happen’!? What kind of thoughts do you have about your practice?

The goal is not to potentially change attachment or aversion, but merely observe if/when/how it is present. It can give you some information about your typical thoughtpatterns, your emotional state, and how you (most often!?!??) react to things when confronted.

Practice
Keep a journal over your yoga practice for a week. Note any thoughts, reactions, fears, loves, shame etc that come up. Review it by the end of the week. Also connecting it to what you have been up to, at work, at home, emotionally (all off-the-mat activities and life!): how does it relate to each other? What kind of reactions did you have to your practice?
How was it to journal over your practice like this?
